Rock 'n' Roll High School

As everyone knows, I am starting high school on September sixth. 

AND I AM SO EXCITED!

Earlier this summer the thought of going to a huge school, filled with people I didn't know who were older than me terrified me. Something happened, and it was good. I am now only a little bit extremely terrified. It was like an overnight thing, I'm still not really sure, but I think it was the work of God. . .or Gremlins, could be Gremlins.

Anyhow, I have open house in three days, and have gone school-clothes shopping four times this summer, so I think I'm okay as far as clothes go. I have my locker picked out, have met with some school groups and have all my affairs in order! 

I really don't have any plans for the rest of the summer. I  am hoping to have my best friend (who lives in Big Lake) over for a sleepover before school starts. So yeah, I'm quite boring. I will blog again after open house, so yay.

I feel that the opening of this post explains itself pretty clearly. I am bored, cranky and tired. I literally sit all day long (when I'm not preforming), and I want to go somewhere! To do something different! I am telling you, I am loosing it! I was so bored today I actually cleaned. I cleaned on my own free will. Maybe I should see a doctor. This is a big problem people.

My gramma Connie and Aunt Lisa are on  vacation right now, and they send me pictures of the fancy food, gorgeous hotel rooms, and beautiful beaches they are visiting and seeing at this very moment. I get a new Facebook notification or text from them every five minutes! They just love rubbing it in! I really wish I could go on that trip with them, but unfortunately I have to stick with my commitments and not let my cast family down. Stupid morals.

Anyways. I cleaned out my phone, and I have just realized that I am in love with Bon Jovi. "SHOT THROUGH THE HEART! AND YOU'RE TO BLAME! YOU GIVE LOVVE A BAD NAME!-" oh sorry. I didn't realize I was singing so loudly.

Oh man. You gotta help me.

Summer Nights

Yes, it is true that I haven't been blogging recently, but any toddler with this web address could've figured that out.* I have not been blogging because nothing has been happening, but because everything is happening!

From hosting parties left and right, to attending Mock Trial camp (and winning my case, thank you very much**), to tubing with friends, to binge watching Psych,  to cross fit (which I don't really do - please refer to the binge watching section), to catching up on eighties movies with my dad, to rapping every verse in Guns and Ships, to squeezing the life out of Jones, to play practice, to babysitting, you could say I have been busy!

Today we spent the day helping out Paukerts with their storm damage done to their house and yard. Thankfully, nothing was damaged at our house and no one was hurt. We are all doing well, and if you need a babysitter - you know who to call!

Our 4th of July party was AWESOME SAUCE! I had an amazing time with y'all! Seussical is going to be amazing, and make sure that you come!

Alexander Hamilton

Now, many of you who see me on a regular basis will know that I have found a new obsession. That obsession goes by the name of Hamilton. "An American Musical". 

I have never seen the musical, but I listen to the soundtrack literally ever chance I can. Whenever I have earbuds in, you could bet that I was listening to the beautiful, rhyming, rhythmic masterpieces written by Lin-Manuel Miranda. 

If that helps to impress you: The musical has won ELEVEN Tonys this year alone, including Best Musical. Nominated for a record breaking sixteen. Saying that the music of this musical is my favorite would be an understatement. I have no words on how to describe, but I'll try. Okay, now think of rap music -- but good! Imagine rap music that is actually musical. Rap music that is good. Hip-Hop that doesn't make you want to shoot yourself in the head. It's- I have no words. 

As you know, I am highly overreacting, but this is how it is for me. My dad is the only family member I have yet to convert to Hamiltonism. I think that I am close, however, due to the fact that he seems impressed by my newest interest in politics, and the knowledge I know posses about history and how our country was built. 

I just sit here all day and listen to it! Heck, I'm listening to it now! Not joking, I swear I am. I'm listening to Non-Stop. One of my favorites; coming in second only to Wait For It. The only downside to the soundtrack is the cussing. There is the occasional bad-word, but nothing too major. However, the language is still there, so be warned. 

IT IS JUST SO INTERESTING. OH WOW, I'M TYPING IN ALL CAPITALS. OKAY, SO YEAH. THE WHOLE SHOW JUST FLOWS. IF YOU LISTEN TO THE FIRST SONG AND JUST LISTEN TO THEM IN ORDER YOU BASICALLY HAVE THE WHOLE SHOW. IT'S SO AMAZING. IT'S SO GOOD, AND COOL AND CATCHY. AND YEAH. It's Time

I apologize for the prolongation of posting this week. I know, it is much over-due, and I'm terrible at keeping ever up to date. I know. Sheesh, you people are vicious.*

This week has been one of the most eventful and terrifying weeks of my life. This week I have graduated from STFX. I am now, officially, a ninth graders! This is part of the terrifying part, seeing as now I can not return to the comfort and familiarity of the little school. I have to go to the big, bad high school. Let's just say that I am not mentally prepared for that. . I'm not even close! I know that I will do fine, most likely thrive there, but that doesn't stop me from fretting. Oh well!

Secondly, well, actually I have just been partying! I just got back from a pool-party-sleep-over at a friends house with all of my eighth grade chumps. I had a blast! It was a little cold, but oh well. 

On Saturday my best friends Jack and Holly took me to the zoo (the new one)! It was alot of fun and I ate a super-jumbo cotton candy and had a massive sugar rush before the pool party. Oh well!

Tomorrow my auntie Lisa, Gramma Rosendahl and I are taking Lisa's cats (yes,all four) to the vet! It may not sound fun to the average man, but hey, I am not the average man. After the trip to the vet we are driving up to the Mora area and planting flowers on the grave sites of our loved ones there. That would be my grandpas and great grandparents, and great uncles. And then I have Seussical rehearsal! I may smell of dirt, hydrangeas, and cats but, oh well!

I GOT SIXTH PLACE FOR MY DISCUS. I THREW 54'11". THOSE ARE BOTH MY PERSONAL BESTS. MY GOT FIFTH PLACE FOR HER 100M DASH. SHE RAN IT IN EXACTLY 14 SECONDS. SHE GOT HER PR (PERSONAL RECORD) FOR LONG JUMP, WHICH WAS 12'10". SHE GOT FIFTH PLACE. SOPHIA GOT SIXTH PLACE FOR HER 800M RUN. SHE RAN IT IN 3:10.00 MINUTES! SHE GOT FIFTH PLACE FOR HER MILE, WHICH WAS 6:58.00 MINUTES! GOOD JOB SOPHIE! MATT GOT FOURTH PLACE FOR HIS SHOT PUT. HE THREW 29'6". LOGAN GOT NINTH PLACE FOR THE 400M DASH. HE RAN IT IN 1:06.90 MINUTES. LOGAN POLE VAULTED 6". GOOD JOB Y'ALL!

IT WAS MY VERY LAST STFX CONCERT LAST NIGHT AS WELL! I AM GOING TO  MISS THEM SO MUCH! I HEARD IT WAS AWESOME! I EVEN SAW AUNTIE KRISTIN CRYING! LOVE YOU KRISTIN! I'M JUST SO. . .SO.. . AHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH! I'M NOT READY FOR HIGH SCHOOL! I'M JUST LITTLE. BUT, OH WELL! HERE I COME!

The Final Countdown

Today was a day of many first, and lasts. Today was my very last monday at St.Francis. It was bittersweet, knowing that I won't be starting the week off with a terrible monday again. . But! I'll survive! The eighth graders get out a week earlier than the rest of the school, which is a huge plus. Our last day of school is June the 3rd, the other kids' last day is June the 9th. On the 31st my class (and only my class) gets to go to Valley Fair for our eighth grade trip, which I am inordinately excited about! Dad is chaperoning - the only school event he volunteers for, might I add. 

Thirdly, I was selected to go to the conference meet for track! 

I will be representing Buffalo at the conference meet for shot put, discus, and possibly pole vaulting (don't ask). Our coaches told us what we were doing and had us signed up. Let's just say there was quite a bit of groaning and/or screaming.

Happy Days

After a tediously long wait, we finally heard from SOAR regarding our roles in Seussical. I was badgering my uncle earlier this week, but he wouldn't crack. My godfather is the music director for the show, and on the SOAR Board of Directors. Unfortunately, he believes in "fairness", whatever that is. 

But alas! The cast list has been released! I found out this morning, and I was aghast! 
My official role is a Featured Dancer! Which I find quite hysterical, because I am about as coordinated as a blind elephant with three legs. Yeah. But I so thrilled!

 All of my siblings got parts, as did my dad! Libby - Cadet and Jungle Animal, Ben - Who, Dad is General .. . .General. . .Uh. . .Well, I don't know his whole character's name, but it's a pretty big part! I'm very proud of my family, my cousins as well, who are also in the show! Congrats y'all!

A fun little anecdote I want to share happened in Theology today. Our priest comes into our class one friday a month and teaches, and today happened to be one of those days. The topic of today's lesson was "Morality and Evil". We talked about how we all encounter evil, sometimes even daily, and how we may be contributing to evil without even knowing it, like when we pay taxes. He then asked us if there were any examples we could think of where we would be assisting an evil or evil act without knowing it involving taxes. One of my best friends, Sophia, raised her hand hesitantly and said kind of quietly,

"Obamacare?" 

Let's just say that it took quite a long time to get all of us, including the teacher and priest to calm down after that! Sophia made my day! I'm actually still laughing a little.

19th Nervous Breakdown

I have found there has been a theme this week. That theme would be being busy, crazed, and nervous. I'm sure you are asking yourselves,"Oh, Amanda, what on earth could make such a wonderful, stunning, intelligent and confident young woman - like yourself - feel crazed and/or nervous?"

Yes, yes I know. I am sorry to break the news to you, that even Broadway worthy actresses (such as myself*) get nervous! It's true! I am waiting on the results of my audition for Seussical  at SOAR. I auditioned on Sunday, and was very nervous. I do feel, however, that it went really well! I am excited and anxious for the cast list - hopefully I make the cut!


Secondly, I am nervous for the upcoming conference meet. I am hoping to be selected to represent Buffalo as one of the girl discus and shot put throwers. I am also being forced by one of my coaches to try triple jump. Fingers crossed!

Busy Being Fabulous

I would like to begin with apologizing for not posting and/or updating y'all on the life of me *flips hair dramatically*. I have been extremely busy. With what I will tell you now.

Firstly, I have had track practice almost every day last week, including a meet yesterday, and one tomorrow. However, due to yuck weather we have had practice canceled today and Monday (yay!). I am glad to have the afternoon to myself, but when we are all unconditioned and unprepared for meets, it doesn't look to good. 

As for the Tuesday meet, I did pretty 'eh'. I threw discus, shot put and jumped the long jump. I've been thinking of dropping long jump, and the most recent meet did not help to sway me into continuing it. I scratched the first jump, got 8'8" on my first jump (which is really bad if you don't know. . .A good, normal jump is around 10-11 feet), and my second jump was 9'3". My best jump ever was 10'1", proving that the long jump is not my best event. 

My discus throw was 53'1". I am proud of that distance, but like I said, it wasn't my best. I just know I can do better! It infuriates me that I'm not improving. . .erg. 

My shot put was 25.8', which is the same as my highest throw. :/ Oh well, you can't always win, right?

Secondly, my cousin Lindy, was baptized! It has been a very eventful past few weeks for the Beaudry family! Lindy didn't cry once, and she looked adorable in the family baptismal gown. Lindy, welcome to the church family, baby! I love you the most! (Libby will say she loves you more than me, but I promise she's lying).

Oh the Thinks You Can Think!

My Auntie Ellen and her son - Kaz - have been asking me to audition for SOAR's Seussical the Musical.  Every other year ( give or take a few) I have done a musical over the summer. I really do love to do the shows, I always have fun, but they have some consequences. . . For example:

- It takes up the whole summer

- Rehearsal last up to three hours

- Rehearsals are almost, or always ever night

And this year, I have some strange desire to do this musical with my cousins, even though I did one last summer (Oliver). When it was suggested the first few times, I cringed and shook my head at the thought of doing another musical this summer. But the fun show started to appeal to me. I got all of my siblings on board, and then mom went to put the rehearsals on the calendar (providing we got a part), and we ran into MANY conflicts. 

Libby is unable to audition due to conflicts, as well as Maddy. Ben just decided not to. . .But I really want to! Which is strange, because I am usually just a lumpy potato who doesn't want to do anything. The problem now is that none of my family members want to do it but me, and mom would have to drive me twenty minutes one way every night for rehearsals, just for me, and I don't want to inconvenience her. 

I think I'm still going to do it, but, erg! Any suggestions? I need help!

Homeward Bound

As a celebration of Cinco De Mayo, my gramma and Auntie Lisa closed on their new house! They bought a house closer to us, in Buffalo, about a month and a half ago. It was a very quick buy, and we are all very excited! 

After school and track practice today we went over to the empty house and had our own little pizza party! Domino's had quite the line out the door when we went to pick up the pizzas, so I guess Cinco De Mayo was inspiring other pizza parties. 

We spent the evening exploring the echo-y house, and vacuumed. There was an overlong amount of vacuuming, but if it means that they get to move in faster, then so be it! 

After vacuuming and snarfing down pizza, all four of us kids decided to play a game of kick ball. We used rocks and trees as make-shift bases, and Ben coincidentally had brought a kick ball to school. Yippee! The game ended how you think it would have ended - in screaming, yelling and tears. There were many arguments about who was on base, if that kick was a foul, who was on who's team, if the teams were fair, etc. . . It was mainly Ben yelling at Libby, Libby yelling at Ben, Maddy yelling at Ben, Ben yelling at Maddy, and Ben and Libby beating each other and Maddy with the kick-ball. 

I was by the fence making friends with the toddler neighbor boy. I'm kind of off in my own world. 

I am very excited for the big move! I know Lisa and Gramma will love their new house, as will the herd of cats that comes with them. Gramma, Lisa, congrats on the new house! I love you both so much! And I hope you know that I will permanently be seated on your couch.

Yet Another Movie

Yesterday, after helping my gramma finish up with her garage sale, we went to see another movie!

If you don't already know this, I will tell you now. We see a lot of movies. Roughly one a week. My dad is addicted to movies, I don't know why, but now that I can see all the PG-13 movies, he takes me with!

Now, we do go and see the occasional Disney or Dreamworks movie that comes out, as a family. But most often, it's just dad and I on a date! 

Okay, back to the topic. Last night we saw the Jungle Book   ,,and that was one strange movie! That was nightmare fuel right there!

Allow me to elaborate. The movie had one real-life character, and that was Mowgli. All the other characters and animals were animated to look like real animals. And the animation was good, but it was still creepy. Ka  - the giant snake - was played by Scarlett Johansson, and it was very. . .different to hear the snake as a woman instead of a man. She was very creepy, and the movie took a dark turn from there, and she wasn't even the worst part!

King Louie, the giant, monkey, was huge. I mean just massive. Louie offers Mowgli protection from Shere Khan( the tiger hunting him), in exchange for fire. Mowgli, even though he is a man, doesn't know how to make fire, or control it, and is chased out of the abandoned temple by King Louie. This part was scary! It involved a lot of jump-scares and a scary, orange King Kong chasing a little boy. Not my idea of fun!

The scariest and/or creepiest part of the movie would be Shere Khan, the massive tyrant tiger who is trying to kill Mowgli. Shere Khan is present through out the whole movie, but he does many horrible things. The most shocking and scary thing he does, is when he and the wolf-pack leader are talking ( and at this point in the movie Mowgli has run away from the pack) about Mowgli, the leader of the wolf pack - Akela, makes a peace gesture toward his pack and Shere Khan. Now, Shere Khan not only refuses the offer, but grabs Akela by the throat and hurtles him off a cliff! Not only that, but Shere Khan murdered Akela in front of his kids and wife. I will say that the wind was knock out of me at that point, and tears were pricking at my eyes.

So, if you are ages 8+ you can see this movie, but as for anyone in first grade or younger, it's too creepy! I was scared! I wasn't expecting it to be super fluffy, but it was just. . .strange. I do not suggest taking anyone 1-5, but I'm not in charge, some people might say that it was okay. I did not enjoy it, but clearly some people did. When we got to the theater, it was full. And the movie had been out for two weeks! 

I give it a C- rating. 

Ted and Kristin, if you are reading this, Lucia and Eloise would hate it! It was weird, and very gruesome.
